Providing Services for People with Disabilities and Their Families

Children and adults with disabilities and special needs find highest-quality services designed to meet their individual needs when they come to Easter Seals Western and Central Pennsylvania. Teams of therapists, teachers and other health professionals help each person overcome obstacles to independence and reach his or her personal goals. Easter Seals also includes families as active members of any therapy program and offers the support families need.

Western Pennsylvania Region:

  • Medical Rehabilitation
    Whether through a birth condition, injury or illness, or because of functional limitations experienced in aging, Easter Seals medical rehabilitation services -- including physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech-hearing therapy and early intervention -- are the first step toward helping people with disabilities gain greater independence.

  • Workforce Development
    Adults with disabilities looking for meaningful employment find training and placement opportunities through Easter Seals job training and employment services. Easter Seals staff help people identify their employment goals and structure job training programs to meet these personal goals.

  • Adult Senior Services
    Extending Easter Seals' medical rehabilitation expertise, Easter Seals adult senior services meet daytime needs of adults with disabilities and older adults while promoting their dignity and independence. Easter Seals partners with families to ensure a continuation of their high-standards of care.

  • Early Intervention
    Early intervention is designed to help infants and toddlers work toward developmental goals at the time in their lives when they are most ready to learn and can most benefit from intervention. Qualified professionals work with children from birth to age 3 who are experiencing or are at risk for developmental delays to optimize development and achieve the highest possible level of functioning.

  • Support Services
    The Social Services Department offers supportive services for families. This department also provides information and referrals for the larger community.

  • Children's Services (school program)
    The Easter Seals Western and Central Pennsylvania Linda Lanham Zeszutek School Program specializes in providing quality individualized special education and therapy services to both Early Intervention (ages 3-5) and School Age children (ages 5-8) with autism and multiple disabilities. 

  • Recreation
    Group activities provide the opportunity for socialization and recreation for persons with disabilities. The recreation program offers specific but separate activities for both children and adults with disabilities at various times throughout the year.

  • Residential Housing
    Easter Seals Western and Central Pennsylvania - Venango Division provides residential services to individuals with Mental Retardation in Venango County.  For more information about residential services click the link above.

Central Pennsylvania Region:

  • Outpatient Therapy
    Whether through a birth condition, injury or illness, or because of functional limitations experienced in aging, Easter Seals medical rehabilitation services -- including physical, occupational, speech, aquatic and sensory integration therapies -- are the first step toward helping people with disabilities gain greater independence.

  • Child Development Center/Preschool
    Meeting a growing need for high-quality child care for more than 20 million young children and their working parents nation-wide, Easter Seals Western and Central Pennsylvania offers child care for children ages 6 months to 5 years. Young children are welcomed to a unique environment where children of all abilities learn together.

  • Therapeutic Recreation
    Horseback Riding Program, Sports Programs and Camps, Aquatics, Water-skiing, Snow-skiing, Summer Camp Programs and more.

  • Interpreting Services
    Easter Seals Interpreting Services (ESIS) provides sign language interpretation services for the Deaf community and offers ASL classes to the community, businesses and organizations, to help the community at-large become more involved within the Deaf community.

  • Autism Resource Center 
    Two locations York and Altoona. Resources include: lending library with books, auditory CD’s, videos/DVD’s and other educational materials, and sample toys, games, picture exchange communication systems, and sensory equipment. The centers have computers for public use including Board Maker software. The centers are open to any individuals, professionals and students interested in Autism information; during office hours or by appointment, (click the link above for addresses and hours).
